Steve holds a Masters of Business Administration from the University of South Australia as well as a Degree in Education from Curtin University. Steve also has a Diploma of Aviation Maintenance and a Certificate of Supervision and Management from the Royal Australian Air Force School of Technical Training. Steve holds an instructor’s accreditation from both the RAAF and Pratt & Whitney Canada.
In 1991 Steve was honoured in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List for his service to Australia in the field of Aviation, specifically his significant contributions to flying safety, cost savings and the introduction of the Pilatus PC-9 into RAAF service.
Steve served in the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) for 21 years. He served both in Australia and overseas. During his service he gained experience in various Squadrons and wide range of roles. He spent four years at the Aircraft Research and Development Unit (ARDU) in flight test and non-standard modifications. Steve also spent considerable time in Pilot Training units in Engineering, Maintenance and Ground Flying Training Instruction.
Steve left the RAAF in 1993 and joined Pratt and Whitney Canada (P&WC). During his 27 years with P&WC Steve has worked with the Vice President Customer Support’s Office, Field Operations, Customer Training, Service Investigation (Accident Investigation) and Engineering. For P&WC Steve was also involved with various Aircraft Manufactures on engine installation programmes such as the Pilatus PC-9M, PC-12NG, PC-21, Dassualt Falcon 2000EX, Korean Aerospace Industries KT-1 and Polish Aviation Works (PZL Mielec) Turbo Orlik. Steve has also worked closely with airlines on Maintenance and Operational Reviews including implementation of recommendations, these include; Qantas, Virgin Australia, Jet Airways, Air New Zealand, Air Nelson Airlines, Mount Cook Airlines, Tyrolean Airways and Malev Hungarian Airlines. In 2003 Steve received a President’s Award for ‘Extraordinary service to a valued customer’ while working at Pilatus Aircraft limited in Switzerland for P&WC.
